IAA

Gaïa
breathes
Gaïa
breathes finally dare to confirm scientists, thus corroborating
the myths and the legends that make Earth, not only a simple
planet, but a living entity. Gaïa, Pachamama, just like
an human being, and seen from space, would breathe, this respiration
being visible to the naked eye. "The radical hypothesis,
formulated 50 years ago, but strongly rejected for several décades,
is in the process of establishing itself in all modern géosciences.
Because the experts are convinced: only this new approach can
predict the risks of climatic, oceanographic, or ecological
changes that human activities pose to our world." (Science
et Vie, N° 1230. And if Earth were alive: scientists believe
it).
The artists, meanwhile, didn't waited for this scientific development
to breathe in tune with Nature, capturing, thanks to their intuition,
the correlation between the rythm of the elements, their manifestation,
and living species, in the harmony or dysharmony of the time.
In
2019, two AIAP/IAA exhibitions particularly underline this problem:
-
the exhibition of the Italian Committee (AIAPI) devoted to Earth
rights and to climate change: Art can save the world.

- the exhibition of the French Committee (CNFAP): Nature
et Imaginaire.

2019: 'Clean India Mission', Swachh Bharat
In October 2019, the IAA Indian National Committee launched
the movement 'Clean India Mission', a campaign and a walk with
very young children to raise awareness about the disposal of
plastic waste. The 'Bengal Tiger Army pre primary school', Kanchrapara,
supervised by soldiers, opened the ban by having all this plastic
waste collected by young children. The local population has
largely supported the 'anti plastic waste' initiative that the
UNIVART Foundation wishes to extend to the entire planet.

Chile
2019: Before the end - for an eco-revolution
Being
aware of the climate emergency as described by the scientists,
and taking into account the meeting of COP 25 at the end of
the year 2019, in Chile, the Chilean National Committee decided
to use the artists' weapons to educate the public. An international
traveling exhibition, entitled 'Antes del fin, por une eco-revolution'
(Before the end: for an eco-revolution), conceived and hanged
according to the concept of 'Mail Art', has already been presented
in Santiago, Chile, in Spring 2019, and will continue to run.
The next stop is the City of Villa Alemana, near Valparaiso,
in July.

Base'Art
Festival, Up'Cycling Tour: an exhibition on recycling waste
materials, 2019
In the Framework of the World Environment Day, and thanks to
the Financial support of the Var Region companies, an IAA France
(CNFAP) artist, Valmigot,
curated the Base'Art Festival exhibition which took place from
June 6 to 9, 2019, in Saint Raphaël, France.
The
2019 theme was the recycling of waste materials into aesthetic
purposes. 74 artists were selected who used recycling materials
(carboard, electrical wires, plastics, food packaging, accounting
books, electronic waste, etc.) as well as other rubbish/products
at the end of their life, intended for waste disposal, to prove
that recycling is not a devaluation in itself, but a use of
the 'ugly' and of the 'useless' able to create, through art,
works providing a new beauty, sometimes close to the sublime.
This
circular economy allowed the artists to work with free materials
that they only had the hard time to reprocess and to gave them
a new Financial value in the economy of the contemporary art
market. More than half of the works were sold, a lot of artists
were recruited by contemporary art galleries, and the City of
Bandol selected several of them for its 2020 exhibition.
The
70 sponsoring companies, for their part, benefit from taxes
exemptions up to 60% for these works which are entering into
their heritage. This atypical exhibition drained about 7000
visitors during those 4 days.

'Costa
Rica, Pont Vert', Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, Francia, October 2013

sample. Biodiversity and natural wealth of Costa Rica with its
light and colour were reflected in the works.
The
project was coordinated by Rosemary Golcher, Costa Rica, Honorary
Master of ACAV Don Carlos Poveda and was cured by Lic. Maria
